ELECTRIC ENERGY FROM EXHAUSTED MARC

Since the early 19th century distilleries have always been reusing their by-products, and Distillerie Bonollo Spa is no exception. The first step is to extract alcohol from marc, then tartrate and grape seeds. At this stage the marc (vine stalks and grape skins) becomes “exhausted” but still useful as 100% plant biomass. This was initially powering their power plant, while today it is given to  the subsidiary Bonollo Energia to produce high pressure steam for the distillery and power from renewables for civilian and industrial purposes.

ELECTRIC ENERGY FROM BIOGAS

Biogas is the final step in Distillerie Bonollo S.p.A production cycle. It has been source of thermal energy for their  processing and more recently it is being converted in electricity thanks to motor-driven generators. An  environment friendly practice to reduce the use of fossil sources by using renewables.
